Areas Affected: San Diego County Coastal Areas - Orange County Coastal
 
Alert Details:
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet for south and
southwestern-facing beaches and 4 to 7 feet for west-facing
beaches. Strong and dangerous rip and longshore currents.
Minor coastal flooding from a combination of high surf and
high astronomical tides.

* WHERE...San Diego County coastal areas and Orange County
coastal areas.

* WHEN...From 6 AM Saturday morning to 11 PM PDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only
isolated road closures expected. Dangerous swimming and
surfing conditions and beach erosion.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Predicted tides for La Jolla, CA:
Sat, Sep 5 2026: 6.0 feet at 4:48 PM PDT
Sun, Sep 6 2026: 6.3 feet at 6:03 PM PDT
Mon, Sep 7 2026: 6.7 feet at 7:03 PM PDT
Tue, Sep 8 2026: 6.8 feet at 7:54 PM PDT

Information:
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions. Always swim near a lifeguard. Stay off
of sea walls and jetties. Waves will occasionally run farther up
the beach than expected, especially during high and rising tides;
set up farther back from the ocean and do not turn your back on
the ocean.
